nice flair

Here is a picture Joel took of my text book flair at the FLAP on Sunday. The flight was nothing but an extended sledder with three little blips on the vario and then zero sink over the brown fields to the west of the park. The air was smooth and the tow was one hand easy. It was overcast and hot and I knew the flight wouldn't be long but needed it to keep my sanity.

Here is a picture of Mandi right after she landed from her first solo of this year. On her first attempt she had a weak link fail as soon as she got off the ground and had about 20 seconds to get some airspeed correct her course, round out and land, which she pulled off with no problem. Her second attempt went much better and the tow, flight and landing were textbook perfect. As you can see by the smile on her face she was VERY happy. We will be on vacation at the Fall Fly-in at the Fingerlakes Aerosports Park next week and she will be able to get some more airtime. Then its time to get serious and start college at FLCC the day after Labor day.

The Half Life of a Home

I know Uranium has a half life but I didn't realize a house did, it seems we have reached the end of the usefull life of everything in our home. It has been non-stop for months now, first the fridge, hotwater heater, well pump, lazyboy, now there is a dead short somewhere in the hopscotch electric system we have. Makes renting sound a lot better doesn't it. Oh the joys of ownership.
